I believe that every life has dignity, this is why I have put together this petition to protect vulnerable Canadians from the Liberal Government's out of control Assisted Suicide regime. My colleague, Ed Fast, had put forward a private members bill, C-314, that would have permanently excluded people with mental illness from accessing MAiD. This past fall that bill was voted down. Please help me call attention to this important bill and issue by signing up to gather signatures on this petition.
Whereas:
- Assisted Suicide for Mental health as the sole underlying condition should never be legalized in Canada
- Mentally ill Canadians are valuable members of society and should be protected from the dangers of Assisted Suicide.
- Legislation has been put forward by Conservative MP Ed Fast to protect these Canadians, but the Liberal Government defeated it.
Therefore we, the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons to:
- Reintroduce legislation, like Bill C-314, that will permanently exclude mental illness from the MAiD regime.
- Acknowledge that Mental Illness is not, and will never be, a grievous and irremediable condition.
